Allders opticians is owned by Rodenstock Group, Simon took over an old fashioned accounting and controlling system. During his time with the company Simon was able to build up a better and more structured reporting and financial system.
Simons work enabled and improved integration between Allders opticians and the Rodenstock Group, whilst also delivering an enhanced reporting structure on the individual practice performance.
Simon successfully reorganised the finance function in the business, implementing many new systems and processes, he also managed to improve the group reporting performance and met the very challenging ‘fast close’ targets set by corporate controlling in Munich. Simon also delivered wide ranging cost controls making the business far more efficient.
Having worked with Simon for two years as the Managing Director of several businesses trading in the UK and several European countries, Simon was my Financial Controller. During this period Simon played a pivotal role in assisting with the Acquisition and then integration of the businesses. He worked closely with foreign lawyers, accountants and local HR functions to understand and establish support for our businesses which could be challenging.
As part of our management reporting Simon established comprehensive Profit and Loss reports and also data analysis to the team on Sales, efficiency and trends within the Business. He had a keen grasp of operating costs and provided detail and alternative cost reductions on an ongoing basis.
